Two steps to prevent tech problems in your new commercial office

Posted on

If you're currently in the process of setting up an office-based business, there are a number of steps you will need to take to prevent tech-related problems from occurring after your enterprise is up and running. Read on to find out what these steps are.

Make sure the data cabling work is performed by an accredited electrician

Telephones and high-speed internet access play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of any business. They are needed for communicating with clients and suppliers, for managing social media accounts, and for a wide variety of other important activities.

As such, one of the first things you will need to do after moving into your new office space is contact a commercial electrician that specialises in data cabling so that you can have telephone cables and sockets fitted, and have a wired network installed.

It is absolutely essential to ensure that the electrician you hire to perform this data cabling work has the qualifications and experience to do it correctly.

If you fail to do your due diligence and instead choose to hire a person who has neither the experience nor the appropriate accreditation to carry out this work, you may find yourself dealing with serious tech-related problems later down the line. These problems could have a very negative impact on your business.

For example, if your office's wired network is installed incorrectly and as a result of this, your internet connection is unreliable, the connection may drop midway through a video call with an important client.

Likewise, if an error is made when fitting the telephone cables for your office's landline, you may notice that there is static on the line when you speak to clients on the phone. This could affect your ability to hear what the other person is saying.

These types of issues could give your clients the impression that you are unprofessional, which could, in turn, lead to them choosing to take their business elsewhere.

As such, it is crucial to use the services of a reputable and qualified electrician.

Invest in powerful computers

It is important to invest in high-quality computers for your office. The reason for this is as follows; well-made computers that have powerful processers and plenty of RAM (Random Access Memory) will be better able to cope with the demands placed on them by busy office employees.

For example, unlike their cheaper counterparts, these computers will not freeze or shutdown if one of your employees needs to keep several software programs and browser tabs open at once.

This is a particularly important point to note if your staff members frequently need to perform time-sensitive tasks on their computers, as it can often take quite a while to restart a PC or laptop that has frozen as a result of being overworked.
